What is Pro:Idiom?
Pro:Idiom Digital Right Management (DRM) technology is an encryption technology developed by Zenith Electronics LLC to help prevent piracy of copyrighted content while still ensuring the delivery of high definition digital television to guestrooms. In fact, content providers like HBO, Showtime, and Disney require encryption of the HD signal in hospitality environments. Pro:Idiom TVs contain a chip that allows the TV to decrypt the encrypted HD content.
Do you need Pro:Idiom?
That question is best answered by your content provider, but for most hoteliers, the answer is, “Yes. You need Pro:Idiom in your Hotel TV.” Pro:Idiom is an encryption technology for use in hospitality TV solutions for the secure delivery of high definition digital television & video on demand (VOD) signals. HBO, Showtime, ESPN and other digital television content providers often require encryption of the HD signal in Hospitality environments where a set top box is not present in each room in order to protect their content from piracy. The most cost-effective way to get Pro:Idiom in your Hotel TV is by purchasing televisions with Pro:Idiom built into them. If you’ve already purchased a Hotel TV without Pro:Idiom built in, Set Top Boxes (STBs) are available from television manufacturers to add Pro:Idiom decryption.
