Description
The Amana brand “Q” Series Sound Suppression PTACs were developed in our Fayetteville, TN facility. The units were tested and validated at a third party independent certified acoustical laboratory in accordance with ASTM Standards E90, E413 and E1332.
The benefit to the room guest is a reduction of exterior sounds entering the room through the PTAC as well as im- proved sound quality as the operation sounds of the PTAC are also reduced.
The factory-installed sound suppression acoustical improve- ments, from the standard Amana brand PTAC to the “Q” series Amana brand PTAC, are installed at our Fayetteville, TN assembly line. The process of improving the acoustical barrier to reduce outside sounds coming through the PTAC involves covering the normal vent door to the point that the door will no longer be operable. Therefore, the PTAC cannot be used for exterior air CFM into the room. Open vent doors dramatically increase exterior sounds entering the guest room and therefore substantially reduce the STC and OITC ratings. Whereas, covering the door to improve the STC and OITC values and reducing the exterior sound coming through the PTAC is an appropriate way to improve both the STC and OITC ratings.
